Electronic Warfare System

Electronic Warfare in an Immersive Environment

RealWorld Electronic Warfare System™ (EW™) is a distributed, PC-based, electronic warfare training and mission rehearsal system. Comprised of one RealWorld EW Controller and one to many 3D desktop training clients, RealWorld EW is a highly scalable, customizable system that includes high-fidelity electronic warfare and threat environments. The RealWorld EW Controller acts as a virtual battlespace manager interoperating with a variety of 3D client applications. It provides unprecedented realism with man-in-the-loop & physics based models. These real-time simulation models include:

  • Communications, including real-time instructor input
  • Synchronous data transfer
  • Sensor (radar) data
  • Weapons, including placement of pop-up SAMS
  • Air combat physics, including flying threat aircraft as aggressors

RealWorld EW also allows the import of real-world electronic orders of battle and integrates with existing mission planning tools. RealWorld EW is a turnkey simulation application allowing for mission creation, analysis, planning & execution.

As shown in the photo above, USAF undergraduate electronic warfare students at the 563rd Flying Training Squadron (FTS) are on board a T-43 aircraft for a cross-country training mission. While in flight, they use carry-on laptops running RealWorld Air Electronic Warfare for combined live and constructive rangeless training. The system allows them to train and master signal recognition/identification, direction finding (DFing) and threat reaction. It’s a powerful combination for training today’s Electronic Warfare Officers.
