Rapid Mission Rehearsal and Training

Easily create and virtually rehearse realistic missions in geo-specific locations. RealWorld puts the power of simulation at your fingertips - programmers not required. DARPA wanted a powerful, yet easy to use simulation platform that could be put into the hands of every warfighter. RealWorld is the result. And thanks to their funding, RealWorld’s growing set of tools, operating environments and desktop trainers are available to you at no cost if you are in the U.S. Military or are part of the DoD.

RealWorld is ideally suited for individual and team training applications such as:

  • TTP development and practice
  • Checkpoint training
  • Force protection and escalation of force scenario development
  • Language skills, regional expertise and cultural awareness
  • Irregular warfare and counterinsurgency mission rehearsal
  • Information operations

In addition to the core technology and toolkit, the RealWorld family has desktop trainers for the A-10C and AC-130U Sensor Operator’s Station. It also includes RealWorld Electronic Warfare with its Integrated Air Defense System (IADS) for training electronic warfare officers. There’s even a growing maritime capability with the development of the Seal Delivery Vehicle (SDV) trainer. RealWorld continues to get better as new capabilities are being added all the time. And the great part is that everyone in the DoD gets to take advantage of the enhancements.

Along with the ability to create an immersive virtual environment, RealWorld provides realistic weapons models with accurate ballistics and operating characteristics. Even the included PRC-119 radio looks and works just like the real one right down to simulating frequency hopping and encryption. You can also set your mission time of day to get accurate celestial body placement, movement and lighting. And when your mission is done, the After Action Review lets you view the mission activities and sequences from any perspective whether it’s an individual’s or an eye-in-the-sky.

RealWorld supports interoperability through HLA and DIS, and is also integrated with the FalconView-based Special Operations Mission Planning Environment (SOMPE). You can now plan missions in SOMPE and at the push of a button, import your terrain data, routes, threats, local points and obstruction data directly into the 3D environment of the RealWorld Builder. There you can use the mensuration tool to calculate and visualize lines of sight for weapons and help plan ingress/egress routes for aircraft.
