Why We Do It
|
At Total Immersion Software, we want every organization to be able to afford to use simulations daily; to have their teams be able to create scenarios as easily as they word process today; and to be able to coordinate with other organizations to train and coordinate together even then one group works on the ground and another in the air or on water. In short, we want RealWorld® to be as common on the desktop as standard word processing applications are today. We believe the current approach to developing training simulations is broken. It requires programmers to build a specific scenario based on a spec. The simulation is then delivered in a form that can only be changed by going back to the programmers. The scenario covered by the simulation is limited, can't be changed, and only covers a small fraction of the scenarios the person in the action is likely to face. Instead, we believe, the people who do the work should build the scenarios as and when they need them — first responders, warfighters, healthcare professionals. After all they know best what details are important and the best scenario to create to prepare their people or teams. They should be able to build quickly and so inexpensively that the decision to simulate is not based on cost but rather based on the needs of the team — not the budget. “I believe if people can create simulations as easily as they create presentations and word process we will find their use changing the world in ways we haven't even imagined.” Dell Lunceford, EVP and former DARPA program manager
