Our History
|
Total Immersion Software was founded in 2003 to democratize the use of realistic simulations by non-programmers. We set out to apply our deep knowledge of game technology and game building to develop a revolutionary new platform that allows people to quickly create an accurate virtual training environment as easily as they create a slide presentation today. The result is RealWorld®, the powerful PC-based simulation platform that enables non-programmers to rapidly build 2D/3D, geospecific training scenarios. We also have deep experience in the military. We know how current training and mission rehearsal is done and understand that its use and value are constrained by time and budget. We believe simulations should run on laptops so they can be used by commanders, first responders and others in the field. We believe simulations should be used at the discretion of the leader. And they should be so easy to use, anyone who can run a PC application can build one. The ability to create simulations as and when needed by the people who do the work will help save lives, reduce risk, and improve outcomes. With our background in DARPA and serving DARPA programs, we understand that the transition of breakthrough technology to practical, end user products is a challenge. At Total Immersion, we focus on the end-user and strive to ensure that they are able to make use of the technology in the work they do. RealWorld enables Total Immersion game developers to build commercial and government RTS, FPS, platform, action/adventure, sports, flight simulators, puzzle, fighting, etc., faster, on lower budgets, with more flexibility, and with greater creative control. Total Immersion accomplishes just that, serving game distributors, producers, commercial entities, and the government, with high-quality, innovative, and edge-of-seat gameplay. |
“Simulations have the power to prepare people to practice and training together before facing complex, often life-threatening, situations. Until the cost of creating simulations and the time it takes to develop them comes way down, simulation technology is never going to reach its potential.” Dell Lunceford, EVP Total Immersion Software and former DARPA program manager |
