RealWorld® has been used to create many diverse applications including:
and many others including applications for ground, electronic warfare, maritime. Every one was built using RealWorld and the RealWorld toolset by following three basic steps: Visualize, Virtualize, and Simulate
Air Environment
Provide realistic virtual air combat rehearsal and training that includes accurate models of threats, weapons, sensors, communications, and flight parameters. Also provide cockpit-quality part-task training on single or networked personal computers for pilot and crew stations.
RealWorld was used to build the A-10C Desk Top Simulation even before the planes were delivered. Pilots trained with the DTS so when the planes arrived they were ready to maximize their live flying time. Today, every A-10C pilot is trained with our A-10C Desktop Training Simulation (DTS). Accurate modeling of the various aircraft systems and sensors combined with the use of realistic representations of HOTAS (Hands On Throttle And Stick) controllers provide these pilots with an effective means of transitioning to the new aircraft systems and interface.
Sample scenario
In this Close Air Support (CAS) mission rehearsal simulation, an A-10C pilot flying support for ground forces receives a call for air support from a Joint Terminal Air Controller (JTAC) on the ground. His/her goal is to find, target and eliminate an immediate threat to ground troops. View scenario
Ground Environment
Experience mission terrain in a virtual environment before you get there.
- Rehearse Techniques, Tactics and Procedures (TTPs).
- Perform 3D After Action Reviews (AAR).
- Train individuals in their downtime or perform multi-player team mission rehearsals.
- Move directly from mission planning to rehearsal with the click of a mouse.
- Train the professionals on ingress/egress routes, team coordination and communication, tactics, and cognitive training, and situational awareness.
- Joint mission simulations can include ground, air, maritime, and EW in a single scenario.
Sample scenario
Intelligence reports arrived regarding a planned bombing in an urban area. Team leaders use FalconView to plan a recon and assault mission. Plan data and area of operation environment data are automatically ingested into RealWorld. View scenario
Electronic Warfare/Information Operations
Place radar installations to virtually deploy and configure Integrated Air Defense Systems (IADS) and run an entire constructive air battle.
- Train your Electronic Warfare Officers and crew members in a virtual single or multiplayer environment.
- Run in classified and unclassified modes depending on your training/rehearsal needs.
- Use voice commands to control constructive aircraft to reinforce communication with the pilot.
Sample scenario
USAF undergraduate electronic warfare students at the 563rd Flying Training Squadron (FTS) are on board a T-43 aircraft for a cross-country training mission. While in flight, they use carry-on laptops running the RealWorld Air Combat Environment (RW ACE) for combined live and constructive rangeless training. View scenario
Maritime Environment
The RealWorld platform’s realistic modeling of the maritime environment provides the warfighter with the ability to simulate maritime combat situations that include infiltration and egress.
- The Maritime simulation environment will model sea state, visibility, sonar, salinity and temperature effects.
- Simulations will include ground, air, maritime, and EW in a single scenario.

Law Enforcement/Counterterrorism
Experience individual and team training for typical law enforcement incidents and events.
- Practice techniques, tactics and procedures (TTPs) and learn the results of execution errors.
- Coordinate training of multi-agency teams from different cities/counties/jurisdictions, SWAT, police, detectives, air cover, and civilian personnel such as school staff, hospital staff, and hazmat.
- Provide rich, varied situations within scenarios.
- Gain 3D situational awareness in pre-mission briefs and/or rehearsals.
- Practice any police or counterterrorism action virtually from search warrant execution to intel gathering, forensics, search-and-seizure, assaults and hostage rescues.
Sample scenario
Local police receive a call from the principal that there has been a hostage taking at the local high school. The main building houses over 2000 students, teachers and staff. The police must plan a coordinated response. View scenario
First Responders
Train your first responder teams in situation assessment, decision making, triage, and cognitive skills.
- Integrated voice-over-IP allows real-time simulating a chain of command and intra and inter agency interactions e.g., hazmat to police, police to fire, or city to state.
- Use the instructor/controller function to throw a curve-ball at your team in the middle of a simulated training scenario.
- Plan, rehearse, revise, and rehearse again.
- Rehearse individuals, teams, and multi-agency teams.
- Simulation of dangerous situations allows professionals to virtually train and experience the consequences of their actions and interactions in an immersive, yet safe environment.
Sample scenario
Fire, police and hazmat teams want to prepare for a chemical attack in a densely populated urban area. Their team leaders set up a scenario in RealWorld for a simulated gaseous chemical agent release. View scenario
