Simulations without Programmers
RealWorld Platform is a mission rehearsal, training and game development platform. The platform enables field forces, developers, and commercial trainers to rapidly create high-fidelity virtual environments, whether for entertainment games or serious logistics mission rehearsal. The RealWorld platform is comprised of 4 core components that together provide all that is needed to build a complete, field-authored, mission rehearsal or training scenario:
- Environmental Data Toolkit (EDT) - The EDT processes standard GIS data into RealWorld underlayment data, creating the “sandbox” in which RealWorld characters live and act. The EDT supports GPS and LIDAR survey data providing terrain knowledge with sub-meter accuracy, and includes tools for geo-referencing, updating, and enhancing the scenario environment.
- Content Management System (CMS) - The CMS is a shared repository of all existing simulation assets as well as any new assets created by developers and artists. These assets act as the building blocks of any scenario to be created. All animated and inanimate objects that exist in the simulated world—humans, vehicles, weapons, flora and fauna—are managed in the web-based CMS. Artists and modelers can use off-the-shelf tools such as 3D Studio Max, Photoshop and their favorite sound editor to create new simulation components and add them to the CMS.
- RealWorld Builder (RWB) - The RealWorld Builder (RWB) is a toolset that forms the heart of the rehearsal creation system. RWB allows non-technical users to create new scenarios on-the-fly, by pulling together all the components necessary to build the scenario, including dragging and dropping assets into geo-specific locations, incorporating up-to-date ISR data and operations objectives, and outputting a deployable, ready-to use run-time simulation package.

- Simulation Runtime - Output of RealWorld is a stand-alone application that includes all the components necessary to carry out the simulation exercise. The application is completely deployable on one laptop, or can be distributed across multiple systems in a client-server model, capable of supporting hundreds of concurrent players.
Unlike anything else in the marketplace, the RealWorld Platform leverages the best of existing commercial technology, while providing new innovative capabilities on an open, scalable and flexible architecture. RealWorld:
- Leverages domain expertise, including intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) data;
- Inserts personnel and relevant assets into fully interactive, simulated 3-D geo-specific environments;
- Supports massively, multi-user simulations, including distributed mission roles and AI-controlled players;
- Allows rapid scenario authoring in the field;
- Is extensible and open system, integrates with existing Physics and AI models, imports all major terrain data standards, supports industry standard art and sound tools, and interfaces with 3rd party systems, such as C4I, through HLI/DI.
